A motorcycle rider was in critical condition after colliding with a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in central Las Vegas, according to a news release from Metro Police.

Cody Wozniak, 34, was riding a 2021 Kawasaki Ninja westbound on East Sahara Avenue approaching 17th Street in the center of three lanes at a high rate of speed, according to witness statements and video surveillance. At the same time, Henry Capehart, 68, was driving a 2016 Nissan Frontier eastbound on Sahara in the left turn lane. While turning, the Nissan collided with the bike, the release stated.

Wozniak suffered critical injuries and was transported to Sunrise Hospital for further treatment, where he remains in critical condition. Capehart remained on the scene, claiming minor injuries and showing no signs of impairment, according to the release.

The collision remains under investigation.
