ROWENA, S.D. (KELO) — It’s been a wet spring and summer, but a weekly motorcycle outing to benefit children hasn’t missed a beat.

Hundreds of motorcycles pack the parking lot every Wednesday night for Bike Night at Red Rock Bar & Grill west of Rowena.

“We’ve been very consistent, every week’s been very good,” Red Rock Bar & Grill owner Mitch Runge said.

Red Rock owner Mitch Runge says it’s a feat made possible when the weather cooperates.

“We’ve been really, really lucky on the weather. We’ve been kind of right in the middle, seemed to always just catch the break where Wednesdays seem to be the right combination for a good night,” Runge said.

Bike Night is in its tenth year and is more than a party, it’s also a fundraiser for the Children’s Home Society of South Dakota.

“We enjoy supporting the kids that don’t have a voice, they don’t have a lot of choice in things, we just enjoy helping kids,” Runge said.

“It’s benefiting the Children’s Home Society and there’s not a lot of motorcycle events around Sioux Falls anymore, so having a motorcycle event like this is really great for the community,” JETT lead singer Evan Jones said.

Evan Jones is the lead singer of the local band, JETT, and has played at Bike Night for the past four years.

“A lot of people come out, have some drinks, enjoy some music, Wednesday night rock and roll,” Jones said.

Bike Night is approaching $200,000 raised over its ten years, and it’s an event that continues to grow.

“We’ve added parking, we rent the neighbor’s parking, and yeah, it’s a full house,” Runge said.

Don’t let that stop you from coming out to support the kids.

“Absolutely, we’ve got room for more,” Runge said.

Bike Night at Red Rock Bar & Grill begins at 6:00 every Wednesday night through September 4th.
