SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The north shore campground at the Big Bend Project near Fort Thompson will re-open on May 15, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said in a Monday news release.

The campground had been identified for closure as part of temporary adjustments because of seasonal staffing constraints.

“We’re grateful to our volunteers and local partners for helping us restore access to this popular recreation site,” Jacki Bultsma, deputy operations project manager at Big Bend, said in the news release. “Their support ensures we can provide a safe and welcoming experience for our visitors.”

The Army Corps announced in April that multiple campgrounds and power station tours would temporarily close this season.
