GILLETTE, Wyoming (KIFI) – Somehow, some way, the Idaho Falls Bandits continue to win, and the Bandits won a nine-inning thriller against the Cheyenne Sixers to return to the American Legion World Series, keeping their chase for a three-peat alive.
After losing game one of the day 9-4 to Cheyenne, Idaho Falls needed a victory in game two to advance.
Down 5-4 in the bottom of the 7th inning, RJ Woods sent the first pitch he saw off the pole in right field for a game-tying home run to force extras.
The Bandits and Sixers traded scoring opportunities in extras with no avail until Idaho Falls came through in the bottom of the 9th.
With two runners in scoring position, Conner Hall walked it off with an opposite-field single to right, sending the back-to-back national champions to the American Legion World Series once again.
Next up, the Bandits’ chase for a three-peat continues in Shelby, NC Thursday night when Idaho Falls battles Omaha, NE at 5:30 p.m. MT.
