VERMILLION, S.D. (KELO) — USD rolled to a 42-13 win over Southern Illinois in its conference opener on Saturday – a game where the Coyotes jumped on top early and never looked back.

The Yotes scored the first 28 points of the contest on their way to a second straight win. They tallied 549 yards of total offense and held a 302-60 advantage on the ground. This complete offensive performance can be attributed to the Coyotes fighting for extra yards.

“We are able to open up those opportunities, establishing that run game and being able to continue to get yards after catches for guys,” USD senior tight end JJ Galbreath said. “Same with runs, even a few extra yards after hits. I think that was a big thing offensively for us.”

USD is set to hit the road for a showdown with Murray State on Saturday.
