An annual back-to-school event is making sure students have everything they need before heading to class. This year’s Backpack & Breakfast event will provide 900 free backpacks to low-income families. Backpacks & Breakfast will be held over two days starting Saturday, Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again on Sunday, Aug 14. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.The event will be held in the parking lot of Be Concerned, located at 100 Pike Street. Backpacks will be filled with grade-based school supplies for students in kindergarten to 12th grade. Supplies are available for low-income families in Boone, Campbell, and Kenton Counties. Families who registered for the free backpacks received emails earlier this month directing them when to arrive at the drive-thru event.To maintain COVID-19 safety, families will remain in their cars as volunteers take their information and give it to runners who will fill backpack orders.The event is presented by Northern Kentucky Harvest in collaboration with Be Concerned and the Brighton Center.
