Chanelle Avaricio shoots for a third straight title starting on Wednesday when the Ladies Philippine Golf Tour makes a stop in Lipa, Batangas, for the ICTSI Mount Malarayat Challenge.

The winner of the Hallow Ridge and Caliraya legs last month, Avaricio looms as the logical player to beat with Princess Superal and Daniella Uy campaigning overseas and amateur sensation Rianne Malixi to play in the Southeast Asian Games (SEA) in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Avaricio has also not taken it easy despite having three total wins in a young pro career, spending the long break in-between legs to sharpen her driving and short game.

“I need to practice on the things I need to improve on,” Avaricio said. “I worked on my driving and my short game.”

Left to try and snap Avaricio’s streak is former SEAG gold medalist Chihiro Ikeda and Tagaytay Highlands leg winner Sunshine Baraquiel.

The 54-hole event offers a total pot of P750,000 and is the fourth in a full, 10-leg calendar set up by the Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc., which also handles the men’s tour also set to resume later this month.

Superal is in Thailand, while Uy is in the United States set to take part in the Mountain Ranch Championship of the Women’s All Pro Tour, the farm league of the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour, in Arizona beginning on Tuesday.
