ArtsATL is searching for a part-time senior editor with a journalistic background and a love for the arts.

The editor will oversee our theater coverage, plus coverage of film and TV. The job is expected to entail about 20 hours a week and is ideal for freelance writers looking for a base income along with time to pursue writing projects. The salary is competitive.

Duties will include generating story ideas, writing occasional news and feature stories, assigning stories to freelance writers, editing those stories and mounting them onto WordPress for publication. The editor will be responsible for overseeing publication of 3-4 stories and reviews a week.

ArtsATL is a non-profit founded in 2009 to journalistically cover the arts in Atlanta and provide thoughtful, meaningful reviews. We are the definitive source for arts news and reviews in Atlanta. We have formed a partnership with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the newspaper re-publishes a substantial portion of our content each week in both its print and web editions. Areas we cover are Art+Design, Dance, Music, Books, Theater and Film+TV.

There may be some flexibility in which specific two peripherals the new senior editor will oversee, but we prefer candidates interested in theater and film/TV.

The ideal candidate will have a journalism background, and either knowledge of the theater and film world, or an eagerness to learn about it. Editing experience is preferred, as is experience working on WordPress.

ArtsATL offers a creative, inclusive, nurturing and flexible work environment with a small team of people who are devoted to the arts in Atlanta. We do our work remotely.

Please send a resume, along with writing and/or editing samples, to Executive Editor Scott Freeman at: [email protected]

The deadline for submissions is August 5.
