Arizona’s Republican members of Congress split over Friday’s bill to prevent a partial government shutdown.
The bill, which needed approval from two-thirds of the chamber, passed with overwhelming majorities of both parties on a 366 to 34 vote.
All Democrats voted for the bill except Rep. Jasmine Crockett, who voted “present.” The 34 “No” votes all came from Republican members.
Representatives Debbie Lesko, Eli Crane, and Andy Biggs rejected the bill, while Paul Gosar, Juan Ciscomani, David Schweikert, Ruben Gallego, and Greg Stanton voted in favor of the bill. Representative Raul Grijalva did not vote.
“I could not, in good conscience, vote for the latest government funding bill that increases spending without necessary offsets,” said Congresswoman Debbie Lesko on X.com. “We must do better for our children and grandchildren.”
