An obscene Apple News alert with the n-word was sent by business magazine Fast Company — due to an apparent hack — on Tuesday night.

“An incredibly offensive alert was sent by Fast Company, which has been hacked. Apple News has disabled their channel,” Apple News tweeted.

Users shared screenshots of the alert, which mentioned a sexual act, on Twitter.

Alert recipients included Apple News users who don’t subscribe to Fast Company, according to tech outlet The Verge.

Hackers apparently targeted an old Fast Company article and edited it before sending the alert.

Fast Company appeared to remove the article within 45 minutes of the alert.

But its website was down as of Tuesday night. Its homepage displayed a “404 Not Found” message.
