Apple chief executive officer Tim Cook has been seen in Massachusetts after he visited people who were hospitalized as a result of a grisly crash at the Apple store in Hingham.In a statement, South Shore Health president and CEO Allen Smith confirmed Cook and Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of retail and people, visited South Shore Hospital on Friday to meet with some of those who were injured during Monday morning’s crash.”The genuine caring and kindness shown by Tim and his team on this visit did so much to lift the spirits of the patients and our colleagues,” Smith said in his statement.Bradley Rein, 53, of Hingham, is facing multiple charges after his SUV crashed through the Apple store at the Derby Street Shops.The crash claimed the life of 65-year-old Kevin Bradley, of New Jersey, and injured 20 others.Bradley, who worked for GMS Construction, was moving a barrier outside the store with a co-worker when he was struck by the SUV before the vehicle crashed into the building, according to a police report.South Shore Hospital received and treated a total of 18 patients on Monday and 10 patients were discharged by 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to South Shore Health.”We are also so appreciative of the wonderful care our entire team has provided to these patients, from our (emergency medical services) at the scene of the accident right through to the emergency room, the trauma and critical care teams and all the doctors, nurses and colleagues who have provided care and support in the hospital and at home with our (Visiting Nurse Association) team,” Smith said in his statement.On Friday night, Cook dined at ALBA Restaurant in Quincy. ALBA owner Leo Keka shared a photo of himself with Cook on the restaurant’s Facebook page.Sources tell sister station WCVB that Cook visited the Apple store in Boston Saturday afternoon to meet with employees. The Boylston Street location is Apple’s flagship store in Massachusetts and is still listed as the largest Apple store in the United States.By Wednesday night, new barriers had been placed outside of the Apple store in Hingham. The storefront at the Derby Street Shops remains boarded up and it is unclear when that location will reopen. Rein was charged with motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation and reckless operation of a motor vehicle during his arraignment in Hingham District Court and held on $100,000 bail.According to the police report, Rein told officials that “his right foot became stuck on the accelerator and his vehicle accelerated.” Rein also told police he had no medical issues that would impair his ability to drive and that he had been servicing his vehicle regularly.Rein’s next court date is scheduled for Dec. 22.
