ANDERSON, Ind. — A student in Anderson was arrested for threatening to bring a gun to school.
According to a statement released by Anderson Community Schools, the Anderson Police Department received an audio recording that captured an Anderson High School student threatening to bring a gun to class on Tuesday.
After they received the recording, police arrested the student. Per ACS, the student is was still in police custody as of 10 a.m. Sunday.
In its statement, ACS indicated it will work with APD to put additional safety measures in place when students return to school on Tuesday.
“We would like to thank everyone who shared this threat with us,” ACS administrators wrote in their statement. “We would also like to thank APD for their swift action and continued partnership to help make our schools safe for our students, faculty and staff.”
As of this article’s publication, no additional information on the student’s threat had been released by ACS or APD. Neither of the entities identified the student that was arrested.
