SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A group opposing a ballot question to establish abortion rights in South Dakota has raised more than $1 million, according to campaign finance reports.
According to documents published Wednesday by the South Dakota Secretary of State’s office, the statewide ballot question committee NoGforSD has raised $1,033,354.62 in total income through Oct. 16.
The report summary says the committee raised $1,004 in contributions of $100 or less, $678,669 in contributions of more than $100 and $350,930 in contributions from entities. They received $111,971 in donated goods or services and $2,750 from candidate committees.
The committee says it has spent more than $950,000 on advertising and more than $770 on credit card fees. The ending balance for the report is $79,650.
Notable contributions include $140,000 from the Catholic Chancery and $200,000 from the Knights of Columbus. Tammy Broin, co-founder of Seeds of Change, donated $100,000. Gov. Kristi Noem’s Director of Communications Ian Fury gave $104.
