ANDERSON, Ind. — The Anderson Fire Fighters, with assistance from East Madison Fire Territory and other first responders, worked to extricate a driver from a vehicle after they collided with a semi tractor-trailer Thursday morning.

According to a Facebook post from Anderson Fire, crews responded to a “serious crash” on I-69 at mile marker 226. When they arrived, crews reportedly found that a passenger vehicle had collided with a semi and pulled the driver from their car.

That driver was airlifted to an area hospital with injuries. However, their exact condition was not provided, and no additional injuries were reported.

Per Anderson Fire, the crash was caused by cell phone use while driving.

“This incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of distracted driving,” Anderson Fire wrote. “Please keep your eyes on the road and avoid using your phone while driving. Your safety—and the safety of everyone around you—depends on it.”
