An American man was found dead inside a room at a popular Bahamas resort where another three tourists died from carbon monoxide poisoning earlier this year.

The man, who was not identified, was likely in his 70s, and no foul play is suspected, the Royal Bahamas Police Force said. He’d been staying at the Sandals Emerald Bay Resort in Great Exuma prior to his death.

Authorities told NBC News the man recently tested positive for COVID and was quarantining on the island.

“We wish to extend our deepest sympathies to the guest’s family and remain in close contact to provide support during this difficult time,” police said in a statement.

His body will be flown to New Providence for an autopsy.

In May, the bodies of Michael Phillips, 68, and his 65-year-old wife Robbie Phillips, both from Tennessee, and 64-year-old Vincent Chiarella, from Florida, were all discovered at the Sandals Emerald Bay resort. It was later determined that all three died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Police dubbed it an isolated incident that occurred inside a residence housing two guest rooms. The resort has since had carbon monoxide detectors installed across its locations.
