SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — An Ellsworth Air Force base airman has pleaded not guilty to first degree murder charges for killing a woman on the base in August of 2024, the South Dakota Department of Justice said.
Quinterius Charles Chappelle, 24, is charged with killing Sahela Toka Win Sangrait, 21. She had been reported missing. Sangrait’s body was found in February in a wooded area near Hill City.
Chappelle was in court on March 28 where he pleaded not guilty. He had also sought release from custody.
The federal Magistrate Judge hearing the matter ordered that Chappelle be detained pending
trial.
