The Arizona’s Attorney General’s office has reached an agreement with the Colorado City Police Department (CCPD) to fund a new radio dispatch system.

During the regular session, the Arizona State Legislature appropriated, through House Bill 2862, $400,000 to the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) for a Colorado City radio dispatch system.

The AGO says the improved communications system will help residents get the assistance they need in a timely manner.

“Every second counts during an emergency, so law enforcement requires efficient communication technology,” said Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich. “Our office is pleased to work with Colorado City’s police department to help ensure that its officers have the equipment needed to provide the fastest response times for residents of Northern Arizona.”

“Reliable radio communications are critical to ensure an effective and timely response in emergency situations, especially in rural communities,” said Representative Regina Cobb, Chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee. “I’ve been proud to work with Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich and his office to help secure this important public safety funding for the Colorado City Police Department.”
Under the agreement, CCPD will:

  • Buy a radio system that meets at least minimum industry standards.
  • Provide copies of the quote or accepted bid proposal, purchase order(s), invoice(s), and/or receipt(s) to the AGO within 30 days of the purchase.
  • Spend the $400,000 for the radio dispatch system prior to the end of the state’s fiscal year (June 30, 2023).
