INDIANAPOLIS — Hundreds of residences are without power in Indianapolis on Saturday, the bulk of which are occurring on the south side, AES Indiana said.
According to AES Indiana’s outage map, as of 1:02 p.m. on Saturday, 430 of their customers are without power, 410 of which are clustered into Indy’s south side.
Around 7:41 p.m. on Friday, AES Indiana retweeted an X (formerly Twitter) post from the National Weather Service of Indianapolis, regarding the scattered storms that hit central Indiana in the evening. The post did not specifically allude to weather-related outages, but noted the storms “…may [have] produce[d] brief heavy rain, gusty winds and small hail through the evening.”
Later, NWS Indianapolis also posted that a special weather statement had been issued for Greenwood, Shelbyville and New Whiteland, with winds reaching up to 50 mph and half inch-sized hail possible. AES has not yet confirmed if these conditions played a factor in the outages.
As of this article’s publication, AES Indiana has not announced when the power will be restored. Stay tuned for more updates.
