SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Tips are still coming into the Sioux Falls Police Department about a missing man.
31-year-old Tyler Weathersby disappeared Wednesday.
The case has sparked a flurry of searches and social media activity.
The Sioux Falls man is one of over 130 people who were listed on the South Dakota Missing Persons website as of Tuesday afternoon.
Some cases date back decades, like Pamela Dunn’s.
She disappeared from her Watertown apartment in 2001.
Other cases are much more recent, like 28-year-old Matthew Marshall who was last seen in Hot Springs this summer, according to the website.
Those are just a few of the cases listed on the site that was launched in 2022.
“So when any law enforcement officer enters into the federal database about a missing person, that is automatically uploaded to the website. We then have to manually put in photographs and any additional information,” South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley said.
There are several reasons someone could end up on the website. Perhaps they’re a runaway or they have dementia and wandered off. There could also be suspected foul play.
Whatever the case may be, there’s always a push to find answers.
“The main point with any of those is that we have people that are missing loved ones, and we’re doing what we can to find them,” Clemens said.
Jackley says the public can help.
“If somebody knows of a person, a loved one a friend that’s missing, giving us that additional information, it could be a photograph, identify a vehicle, that additional information that we can put on the website can help save a loved one or help bring a loved one home quicker,” Jackley said.
Jackley says on average there are about 130-140 people on the site at any given time.
