SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — We’re watching for a pattern change as we go through the month, but it may keep the rain around.

Whenever we have the chance for rain in the forecast in southeast KELOLAND, it rains. That’s something I’ve mentioned both on-air and to people in casual conversation. If that holds true, be prepared for rain through the weekend in eastern KELOLAND. And even as we see a pattern shift next week.

Here’s where we were over the past couple of weeks. As hot and dry conditions dominated much of the eastern and southeast United States, the flow around this helped moisture spread north from the Gulf of Mexico, right into KELOLAND.

We’ll slowly change to hotter conditions in the western United States, possibly by the middle of the month. Eastern KELOLAND will still be in the zone for rain as we’ll watch for pieces of energy that ride along the edge of the heat.

You may have noticed that eastern KELOLAND will be in a northwest flow by then. So, moisture will be more limited than what we had just a couple of weeks ago.
