Does everything have to be high-tech now?  I guess so . . .

A luxury bathware brand in Japan is working on a new “human washing machine” to replace bathtubs.  In English, the name literally means “Human Washing Machine of the Future.”

It’s based on a design some maniac came up with half-a-century ago.  An early version debuted at an expo in Japan in 1970, but this one’s more high-tech.

It looks like the cockpit of a fighter jet and fills with water.  So it’s like an enclosed tub.  (Sounds safe.  Here’s a photo.)

They haven’t revealed a ton of details.  But it apparently uses “microscopic bubbles” to blast the filth off you.  Meanwhile, A.I. tracks your vitals to make sure you’re comfortable and that the water temperature is just right.

It also dries you off, and the whole process takes 15 minutes.  So, it’s faster than a nice, soothing bath.  But it would still be quicker to just take a fast shower.

They’re unveiling the prototype at a conference in April, with plans to eventually sell them.  No word on how much they might cost.
