“GITEX has played host to pivotal moments over the years,” said Trixie LohMirmand, executive vice president of events management at Dubai World Trade Centre, GITEX GLOBAL’s organizer. “Today, we are proud to support the first public flight of the pioneering flying car XPENG AEROHT X2 in partnership with the Dubai International Chamber. Electric flying cars are the future of travel, and it is incredible to witness history in the making today.”
The XPENG X2 seats two and has a lightweight carbon fiber structure. It is equipped with both automatic and manual flying modes. Additionally, it can drive both in the air and on the road. In automatic mode, you can relax and let the flying car drive itself. But it’s not ready for long road, er, sky trips yet. According to the company’s press release, “It will be suitable for future low-altitude city flights and is perfect for short-distance city journeys such as sightseeing and medical transportation.”
XPENG AEROHT is an affiliate of XPeng Inc, a Chinese electric vehicle maker, and was established in 2013. The company has more than 15,000 safe manned flights under its belt. It’s won prestigious industrial design awards and has raised more than $500 million in capital funding. The giant tech show GITEX GLOBAL 2022 was the perfect place for the world to see the new flying car in action. More than 100,000 people from 170 countries converged on Dubai to attend the 42nd GITEX GLOBAL.
