POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) – It’s so far, so good for both Pocatello squads to start the American Legion Idaho State A Tournament, as both teams scored close victories on Wednesday, which sets up a battle between the two teams Thursday night.
It took extra innings for the Rebels to take down the Ridgevue Warhawks in their contest. Both teams went back-and-forth through seven innings. Then, an RBI groundout and an RBI sacrifice bunt put Pocatello ahead for good in the 10th for the 7-5 win.
As for the Razorbacks, it took awhile for both Pocatello and the Nampa Braves to get the bats going, but in the 6th, they both got rolling. Nampa scored twice for a 3-1 lead in that frame, but the Razorbacks immediately with three runs to take the lead and hold on for the 4-3 win.
Next up, the second round battle in the winner’s bracket between the Rebels and the Razorbacks is set for Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
