General Electric Appliances is recalling six models of its refrigerators sold at Best Buy, Home Depot and Lowe’s.The company said it has received 71 reports of freezer drawer handles detaching as people try to pull the drawers open, causing a risk to customers. It has caused at least 37 people to get hurt.Three had serious fall injuries.The six models were sold between February 2020 to January 2022 for between $1,900 and $2,500, depending on the model. They all have French doors with a bottom freezer. The brand name, model and serial number for each unit are printed on a label located on the top of the left side of the interior of the refrigerator compartment. Anybody who has this item should contact GE Appliances for a repair. Customers can schedule a free in-home service call to have the freezer’s handle mounting fasteners replaced and the handle re-installed and for instructions for safe use pending a repair.
