SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A Montrose woman is charged with embezzling $39,842 from a Humboldt business.
According to an affidavit, Amanda Siemonsma used a company credit card to pay for everything from manicures and hotel stays to children’s clothing and fireworks.
The alleged crimes spanned four years, and came to an end in February of 2024. The affidavit says that’s when the business came across a $300 charge at a nail salon and decided to review Siemonsma’s credit card statements. Siemonsma met with a detective and confirmed that she’d made several personal charges on the company credit card.
The court document says following Siemonsma’s termination she sent an “Apology letter” and a cashier’s check to her former employer to cover all of the charges.
“The letter expresses Siemonsma’s apology and regret for the misuse of the company credit card.”
Affidavit
More than a year after the alleged crimes came to an end, Siemonsma was booked into the Minnehaha County Jail. She made her first court appearance on Thursday.
