My favorite places to travel are those that have history you can see and feel. Where the architecture and the beauty of these places seem like they should only belong in a movie or be described within the pages of a book. Savannah, Georgia to me, is one of these places.
If you’ve never had the opportunity to go to Savannah, Georgia, it’s a friendly city with wonderful food, lots to do and see, and beauty around every corner. It’s historic district is a national landmark and is the perfect destination for a romantic getaway.
We recently took a little trip to Savannah and stayed along the river at The Cotton Sail Hotel. It was a wonderful stay! One of the most unique features of the Cotton Sail Hotel is its gorgeous rooftop deck with panoramic views of the river. Its restored wooden plank floors give the grand feeling of being on a ship’s deck. Did I mention that it also has a bar called the Top Deck? What’s better than relaxing with some great cocktails, incredible views and perhaps an appetizer if you’re hungry? Outdoor heaters are a great touch so you can enjoy their deck even on chillier nights.
After cocktails if you’re ready for dinner, simply take the elevator down to River Street. There’s plenty of dining options to choose from along the historic cobblestone street, including the River Street Inn located on the lower level of the hotel. They’ll even deliver your dinner right to your room!

The rooms at the Cotton Sail Hotel are beautifully decorated and have a spa like quality. 200 year-old heart of pine wood was discovered supporting the old roof of the building during construction and now adorn every guestroom.
