A Las Vegas man accused of a fatal stabbing last week near UNLV said the victim antagonized him on a bus and “deserved it,” according to a Metro Police arrest report.

Emanuel Beccles, 31, was apprehended by a security officer who witnessed the stabbing about 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the 4700 block of Maryland Parkway, according to the arrest report.

The security officer intervened after he saw two men in an altercation across the street from a fast food restaurant he was patrolling, police said.

The security officer saw Beccles stab the victim, Jeff Durroh, with a large knife and ran across the street, ordering Beccles to the ground, according to the arrest report.

The officer held Beccles on the ground until police arrived, the report said.

Metro officers reported that Beccles said Durroh “deserved it; he antagonized me on the bus,” according to the arrest report.

Beccles was being held at the Clark County Detention Center on counts of open murder and probation violation, according to jail records.

He appeared Friday in Las Vegas Justice Court, where he was appointed a public defender and denied bail, according to court records.

Beccles was due back in court May 3 for a preliminary hearing.
