6. Jonah Williams Celebrates The Big Man Touchdown
The situation: The Cardinals were inside the 10, hoping to extend their lead to double digits.
The play: Greg Dortch took the handoff and followed his blockers towards paydirt. However, at the 2-yard line, the ball was knocked loose. Jonah Williams, the Cardinals right tackle who was pulling on the play, saw the ball on the ground and jumped on it in the back corner of the end zone. Williams curled his body to stay in bounds. After review, Williams was credited with the touchdown
The aftermath: It’s plays like this that epitomize Jonathan Gannon’s philosophy of playing with a high motor. Also, for good reason, the touchdown received a ton of media attention. But the offensive line room is unique in the sense that when a player speaks to the media, they’ll receive an undisclosed fine from the group’s kangaroo court. After three postgame media scrums, a radio interview, and media availability the following day, Williams was in the court’s spotlight.
