Temperatures are set to take a turn starting tonight. Big improvement coming after lows below zero early Wednesday. Coldest, -14° Crawfordsville (Montgomery County.) -11° Hartford City (Blackford County.) The low of -1° in Indianapolis is the coldest since last January.
Milder air is spreading into central Indiana late Wednesday. Added clouds and a passing warm front will bring MUCH IMPROVED temperatures by early Thursday. Temps slowly rise through sunrise. An expansive snow field will impact the temperature rise to end the work week. Feeling is that we will break the freezing mark as early as Thursday and likely Friday. A brief thaw is coming!
A renewed surge of mild air could bring temps up to near 40° Friday but the tradeoff is a potential wintry mix of arriving late and ending with wet snow at or before sunrise Saturday. We will watch trends on this system as there is a potential for slick conditions to develop late Friday night. How much snow on the ground and its impact on low level temperatures may be problematic. Stay tuned.
