FISHERS, Ind. — The Indy Ignite played their first-ever match on Saturday night at the Fishers Event Center.

The Ignite downed the Orlando Valkyries, 3-1, in four sets.

Orlando claimed the match’s first set, 25-13. Indy then won three sets in a row by scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-21, respectively, to clinch the match.

Leketor Member-Meneh, a University of Pittsburgh alum, led the way for the Ignite with 25 kills. Azhani Tealer, a University of Kentucky alum, also had 19 kills.

Sydney Hilley was the Ignite’s assists leader with 44 on the contest. She also racked up 15 digs during Indy’s winning effort.

The majority of Orlando’s offense came from Brittany Abercrombie, who registered a team-high 17 kills. She accounted for nearly 35% of the Valkyries’ kills on the game.

The Ignite played their first game in front of a sellout crowd of 7,500. Indy still has 13 home games remaining on its schedule.

The Ignite will play their second game of the season at the Fishers Event Center on Thursday at 7 p.m. The Ignite will play 28 games before the regular season concludes in May.

The Ignite are part of the fledgling Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF). The PVF’s inaugural season began in January 2024.

The league kicked off its second season this month. The 2024 PVF Draft was held on Nov. 25.
