SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. — A person died in a single-vehicle crash in Shelby County Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. to the area of CR 900 N. and CR 675 W. in response to a crash. Upon arrival, deputies located one deceased individual inside a vehicle that had appeared to strike a tree.
SCSD said preliminary information indicates the driver briefly exited the roadway before overcorrecting in an attempt to regain control and come back across the road. At that moment, their vehicle reportedly collided with a tree in the area.
The Shelby County Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased individual’s name at a later time.
The fatal crash remains under investigation.
