Boosted by a successful 2024 election, Arizona Republican Party Chairwoman Gina Swoboda won the endorsement of President Donald Trump for her run for re-election at the Party’s Convention in January.

The President made his endorsement clear at Turning Point Action’s AMFEST in Phoenix on Sunday.

The news was greeted positively by Republicans across the state who were glad to be back to the party’s winning ways.

Swoboda’s path will not be unopposed however. The AZGOP’s National Committeeman Jake Hoffman and National Committeewoman Liz Harris have already recruited former State Representative Cory McGarr to run against Swoboda.

“This isn’t about winning for Hoffman or Harris, it is about control and money,” said one State Committeeman who said he was upset that Swoboda was being challenged after having a successful 2024 election.

Swoboda stepped in when the previous Chairman, Jeff DeWit, stepped down, and inherited a party that was struggling financially. The Party ended up raising millions of dollars and ran successful voter registration efforts, helping to build a sizeable advantage over Democrats that paid off when GOP candidates won their elections in November.

Swoboda issued the following statement on her announcement to run for a second term as the AZGOP Chair:

“One year ago, I was humbled to be asked by Republican leaders to serve as Chair of our beloved party. With the full support of President Trump and the tireless efforts of grassroots conservatives across our state, we achieved incredible victories this election.

Our successes speak to the strength of our movement – built on defending our freedoms, lowering costs for hardworking families, and securing our borders. We turned a heartbreaking loss into a nearly 6-point victory for President Trump in Arizona, won two of the most competitive congressional races in the nation, and held the line against record-breaking Democrat spending to not only maintain but expand our Republican majorities in the Legislature for the first time since 2010.

This is, and always has been, a team effort. I want to thank Republicans across Arizona for their tireless and selfless efforts that played such a key role in our victories. The dedicated Republicans who knocked on doors, made calls, donated, and stood firm for our conservative values. The rural counties absolutely crushed it, and the Native vote swung decisively our way. Our partnerships across our county parties won these races. The cure chase teams were incredible, and we left no vote on the table. Maricopa County Cure Team, led by MCRC, worked their hearts out. The 4500+ observers in every county secured our votes. We could not have done it without you!

There is more work to be done and the fight isn’t over. That’s why I’m announcing my decision to run as Chair of the Republican Party of Arizona and honored to have President Trump’s full support. As Republicans, we have the opportunity to build on our successes and expand the grassroots army needed to win in the coming years. This includes taking back the Governor’s office and the other statewide seats we lost in 2022.

Most importantly, I want to work together with Republicans all across our state to ensure the Republican Party of Arizona is in the strongest possible position to help our candidates win in 2026 – and beyond. Together, with your support and President Trump’s leadership, we will continue to Make America Great Again!”
