SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) —Good morning KELOLAND! Our forecast this week is starting mainly quiet, but a light wintry mix fell overnight in far northeastern South Dakota. As a result, we are tracking a few slick spots on the roads near Aberdeen . The morning precipitation has stayed light around Watertown as you can see on the image below.
On the radar review below, you can see some of the light precipitation brushing the northeast. The rest of the day is looking dry.
Futurecast shows clouds lingering in part of eastern KELOLAND today. Temperatures will recover into the lower and middle 30s near Sioux Falls. Lower 50s are likely in Rapid City. Expect areas of fog tonight in eastern KELOLAND, especially northeast of Sioux Falls. Dry skies are expected for Christmas Eve.
The white Christmas outlook is still best north of Sioux Falls. As temperatures warm in the coming days, this snow cover will be shrinking.
In fact, it’s not snow but rain showers in the forecast by Friday into Saturday. We’ll watch how far north this system will go in the coming days.
