Arizona’s 11 electoral votes were officially signed off by Secretary of State Adrian Fontes on Tuesday morning.
“Our 11 presidential electors will represent the will of Arizona’s voters in today’s assembly of the electoral college,” Fontes said during the Assembly of the Electoral College.
“As we approach the 250th anniversary of the independence of our nation and reflect on the enduring legacy of this great republic, my office remains dedicated to upholding a democracy that is robust, transparent and accountable,” he continued.
Fontes assembled with the Republican electors for President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance, as the duo defeated Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz for the battleground state.
“The voters of Arizona have made their voices loud and clear, delivering President Trump a decisive victory of over 187,000 votes, a 5.5% margin, the largest of any battleground state,” Arizona Republican party Gina Swoboda said in a statement. “President Trump also secured a win in the popular vote, demonstrating the incredible mandate the American people have given him to lead us back to common sense, security, prosperity, and liberty.”
“As the Electoral College cast their votes today, we are reminded of the genius of our founders, who ensured that the entire country, not just population centers, would have a voice in electing our President,” she added.
Trump previously won the state in 2016 and narrowly lost it in 2020.
The would-be electors for the president-elect in 2020 are defendants in an alternate electors trial being prosecuted by the Arizona Attorney General’s office, which argues that the group tried to send a fraudulent electors document to Congress for the Republican.
Critics of the case argue that the case is an unfair form of political targeting. None of those facing charges were electors during this cycle.
Each state held their electoral college assembly on Tuesday.
