PIERRE, S.D. — The Pierre Governor boys basketball team found an offensive groove in the second period of their inaugural game of the new season, and the defense did their job to help maintain a lead the rest of way, as Pierre claimed a 52-41 win over Rapid City Stevens at Riggs High Gym. An 18-10 scoring advantage in the second period put the Govs up 26-22 at the half. Senior guard Luke Olson led the way with 18 points, including 14 in the second half, along with eight rebounds and five assists – all team highs. Corde Austin scored 12 including an emphatic slam dunk for the first Governor basket of the season, and Dawson Getz added ten. The Raiders were led by Kaelem Brooks with 11 points and Dayler Segrist with ten.
