CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Central Indiana police are searching for a Crawfordsville woman and her infant child who have been missing for over a week.

The Crawfordsville Police Department is asking the public for help locating 28-year-old Lindsey Cox, who was reported missing by her family on Dec. 2. She is believed to be with her boyfriend John Byrer and their 7-month-old son, also named John.

While no description of Cox or her son was provided by CPD, a photo from the department can be seen below:

CPD said that after family reported Cox missing on Dec. 2, detectives made contact with her over the phone that same day. Based on this, she was temporarily removed from the missing person database after the family was informed.

Then, on Dec. 7, family members again expressed concerns over both Cox and her son. CPD officers then reinstated her status as a missing person with information that she was believed to be in northern Indiana.

In a release sent on Wednesday, Dec. 11, Crawfordsville officials said CPD has obtained information suggesting that Cox, Byrer and their infant child have now traveled out of state. Despite still being a missing person, CPD said Cox has contacted the department multiple times.

Most recently, CPD said an officer spoke with Cox on Tuesday, Dec. 10. During this call, Cox was reportedly encouraged to visit a nearby police department for a wellness check.

“The Crawfordsville Police Department is actively coordinating and communicating with other jurisdictions as new information becomes available,” CPD said. “Family updates are being provided regularly.”
