Saturday afternoon brought us the first round of the FCS Playoffs and both SDSU and USD were able to sit back, relax and watch some ball. The Coyotes would play the winner of Drake vs. Tarleton St. The Jackrabbits, also earning a first round-bye, awaited the winner of Montana vs. Tennessee St.
Tarleton St. served Drake a steady dose of Kayvon Britten giving him the football 29(!) times for 146 yards and a score. The Texans would go on to put up 43 points winning 43-29 and surprising some folks across the FCS. Montana followed a similar gameplan leaning on their star back Eli Gillman who toted the rock 20 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns of his own, catapulting Montana into the second round with a 41-27 win over Tennessee St.
SDSU will now welcome in Montana to Dana J. Dykhouse this Saturday, December 7th at 1:00 on ESPN+. After more snow football over the weekend in the NFL, I peeked ahead at the weather in Brookings this Saturday afternoon. It is not exactly “football weather” showing a high of 39 and low of 28 with partly cloudy skies and low breezes, but it will be a perfect day at the stadium for those who are not like me and are normal.
Similar scenario in Vermillion as the Coyotes welcome in Tarleton St. to the always-balmy Dakotadome. Weather for the game on Saturday in Vermillion is as it always is, dry and 72. You can view this game live on ESPN+ Saturday at 2:00 PM.
