SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It’s the end of an era for a longtime Thanksgiving tradition at a Sioux Falls Church.
Members of Memorial Lutheran Church served their annual free Thanksgiving meal to people who didn’t have a place to go for the holiday.
But the couple in charge of this event for the past 38 years is stepping aside, so new leadership can take over and ensure that this tradition continues for years to come.
“We feel like we’ve kind of run our course. We know it’s gotta go to a new generation at some point. And so, we’ve been actually trying to get away from this for probably three or four years, not get away, but actually just to try to pass it off to a new generation,” said Greg Miller.
The Millers expected to serve more than 200 people at the church, with another 500-plus meals going out the door.
