Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix was named the NFL rookie of the week for the third week running on Thursday, the team announced in a news release.
Nix earned the award after completing 25 of 42 pass attempts for 273 yards and two touchdowns in the Broncos’ week 12 win over their division rival the Las Vegas Raiders. He did not throw an interception on the 29-19 victory.
Nix becomes the first Broncos player ever to win the award three weeks in a row since its inception in 2002, according to the team.
Only one player in franchise history has been named the league’s rookie of the week more than three times — running back Knowshon Moreno who won it four times in the 2009 season.
Nix, the 12th overall pick in the NFL draft this spring, continues to build a resume that could see him named NFL’s offensive rookie of the year. If he wins that award, he would be the first Broncos player to do so since running back Clinton Portis in 2002.
