SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Lincoln High School’s Marching Patriots have finished their performance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The band of over 200 students marched the two and a half mile parade route in the rain on Thursday morning in front of 400 South Dakotans on the trip and nearly three million people in the crowd.
“This is just gonna be an experience that all of us are gonna remember for the rest of our lives, for sure,” said Oliver Veerman, a junior baritone saxophone player, for KELOLAND News earlier this week.
Over 30 million people across the world were expected to tune in to various television broadcasts.
After arriving in New York on Monday, the band visited the 9/11 memorial, the Statue of Liberty, played in Central Park and attended a Broadway show. They are expected to return to Sioux Falls by bus on November 30.
KELOLAND News will speak with additional students after they’ve marched to hear their thoughts on the experience for Thursday night’s newscast.
