SIOUX FALL, S.D. (KELO) – Oftentimes when we think of the mall, we think of the big box stores or national names. But the Empire Mall in Sioux Falls has a quite a few locally and regionally owned businesses.
Mulberry Market isn’t new to Sioux Falls, but it is new to the Empire Mall.
“Actually the Mall has really never had anything like this at all in the Mall,” owner Jamie Bendewald said. “So we’re kind of the first people to come just bring something like this with multiple vendors and different people in here.”
With 50 vendors under one roof, Mulberry Market takes local shopping at the Mall to a whole new level.
“There’s a lot of cool things in here that people do and until this they didn’t really have an opportunity to show what they do,” Bendewald said. “You could see them maybe at craft shows, craft fairs but this gives them a full-time, all year long, to be able to make their products and show them.”
“To bring more locals to the Mall is outstanding. We have great locals already, local businesses. So, really happy that they’re here,” Dan Geis, Empire Mall General Manager, said.
Bringing in more options for mall-goers wanting to shop small this holiday season.
“I mean, we have anywhere from clothes to woodworking to 3D printing to magnets, to I don’t know,” Bendewald said. “There’s just about anything you could find in here. So it’s just kind of cool, anyone could come, you could probably get all your Christmas shopping done in one spot.”
Previously, Mulberry Market was under a different ownership and located further down 41st near the Marion intersection. That location will officially close at the end of the month.
