SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It’s been a slow go when it comes to snow in KELOLAND, but it’s still early in the season.
The cold has settled in across KELOLAND, and with it, we’ve had some flurries and light snow. While the snow amounts have generally stayed light, there are others that haven’t had any measurable snow.
You may remember, my prediction for the season was for below average snowfall. Well, so far so good as the recent amounts are less than a half inch for Sioux Falls and Aberdeen. Pierre and Rapid City are still waiting for their first measurable snow.
Pierre usually sees its first measurable snow on November 10th and it’s October 22 for Rapid City.
The latest for those cities are January 4th in Pierre and December 7th in Rapid City.
As we continue through the snow season, you can follow along with me on KELOLAND.com. Under the weather section, go to ‘Scot’s Prediction Page’. here you will find the snow amount compared to my prediction, but also other useful and fun information, such as following along with the 90-day fog theory.
Even with the cold in place, we don’t foresee any snowstorms anytime soon. In fact, we’ll start to get warmer temperatures as we go through the first week of December.
