A woman was pronounced dead after she was struck by a vehicle when running into the street Monday night on the South Side in the Parkview neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Shortly before 11:30 p.m., a 48-year-old man driving a white SUV was headed west in the 3800 block of West Columbus Avenue when he struck an unidentified woman who ran into the street, police said.
The woman suffered trauma to the body, and was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where she was later pronounced dead, police said.
The driver of the SUV stayed on the scene and a citation was pending.
