INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Fire Department worked to extinguish a fire on the north side that displaced seven people and left a dog dead Thursday afternoon.
According to a Facebook post from IFD, firefighters were called around 3:22 p.m. to a home on the 7500 block of Grandview Dr. A heavy fire broke out in the rear of the home, which was believed to be caused by combustibles located near a space heater.
IFD said the occupants of the home evacuated before firefighters arrived, but their dog did not survive. No further injuries were reported.
IFD added that the occupants of the home lived there for 19 years and will now stay with their relatives.
