SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The quarterfinals of the Class ‘A’ volleyball state tournament were played Thursday at the Premier Center.
Sioux Falls Christian, the eight seed, defeated No. 1 Miller in straight sets. Brietta Tims led the way with a match-high 17 kills.
Dakota Valley rallied to defeat Mount Vernon/Plankinton 3-1 after dropping the first set. Claire Munch and Samantha Kimbell each had monster matches. Munch tallied 24 kills, and Kimbell had 16.
Second-seeded Hamlin defeated Sioux Valley in four sets. Addie Steffensen amassed 20 kills to lead all attackers. Addison Neuendorf followed one kill behind.
Dell Rapids dominated Winner for a three-set sweep. Madelynn Henry compiled a match-high 18 kills.
The semifinals are slated to take place Friday as Sioux Falls Christian takes on Dakota Valley at 5 p.m. and Hamlin battles Dell Rapids at 6:45 p.m.
