Rapid City, S.D. (KELO) — Youth and Family Services in Rapid City is partnering with two local businesses to help feed 400 families this Thanksgiving.
Timmons Market and Denny Menholt helped to provide the funds and food for these families.
“Out into the community and is shared by a lot of people. They understand how important these types of things are for the kids and families and they want to provide and be helpful and supportive to those who may need a little assistance every now and then,” YFS CEO John Julius said.
“So being able to partner with the folks here at Youth and Family Services and then count the generosity of the Menholt Group came in, it made our job really easy,” Timmons Market Co-Owner Dan Bruner said. “We resource food everyday for our store, so we just sourced a little bit extra for this time of year. And we’re happy to pass that along at our cost to make sure that the dollars raised for this, stretch even further.”
Each family will receive a full meal to feed six or more family members.
“Each family will get a turkey, a big turkey. Five pounds of potatoes, some jell-o, stuffing, canned vegetables, and pies. The whole spread for a great Thanksgiving meal,” Julius said
This tradition has been going on for the last five years.
“So to us it’s amazing. We wanted to have a part of our structure and part of our goals as a company to give back to the community. To help to bridge the gap in food needs in the Rapid City area,” Bruner said.
These meals will be set up and delivered by Youth and Family services this weekend.
These meals are expected to help feed around 2,000 people this upcoming Thanksgiving.
