SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) —For some people, dance is second nature to them. To others, it can be like trying to speak a different language.
This week a free event is giving people an opportunity to test out their dancing shoes.
While Andrew Byrd didn’t grow up dancing, it has become a big part of his life.
“I love it. It’s such a great way to, like, express yourself, but it’s also great workout without thinking about working out,” Dakota Country Dance Club Vice President, Andrew Byrd said.
Which is one of the reasons he joined the Dakota Country Dance Club.
“We partner with a lot of people and we have instructors from all over the Midwest. We partner with venues to just spread the love of country music and country dance,” Byrd said.
In order to introduce more people to country dancing, the Dakota Country Dance Club is hosting a free country dance night tomorrow.
“We will be teaching a line dance. There will be two line dances taught. And then we’re going to be teaching a swing,” Byrd said.
The dances taught at the event will be easy to learn, but if you have two left feet, there will be people there to help you.
“It’s really beginner friendly too. So we’ll walk through every piece of the dance and really break it down. Anytime you need help, ask, we’re here to help you,” Dakota Country Dance Club member, Kaitlin Paulson said.
Giving people an opportunity to learn new moves without having to spend a cent.
“We are so, so excited for anybody to kind of join on to the country dance community crew that we have going on here in Sioux Falls and surrounding area. It’s so much fun,” Paulson said.
The Free Country Dance Night is taking place tomorrow night at 6 at the Icon Event Hall.
