INDIANAPOLIS — On November’s general election ballot, Indiana voters made decisions on several races, including races at the federal, state and local levels.
Five judges, including three on the Indiana Supreme Court and two on the Indiana Court of Appeals, were also on the ballot in November. All five judges were retained on an average of 70% approval, according to a news release from Indiana Courts.
On the ballot, Indiana voters had the choice of whether or not to retain each of the judges. The Indiana Secretary of State’s office reported the following results for the state’s judicial retention question:
- Chief Justice Loretta Rush – 71% yes
- Justice Mark Massa – 69% yes
- Justice Derek Molter – 70% yes
- Judge Rudolph Pyle III (Fourth District) – 71% yes
- Judge Peter Foley (First District) – 72% yes
The release said that once appointed, a judge is required to stand for retention at the first statewide general election after the judge has served for two full years. If the judge is retained, the judge is on the retention ballot every 10 years.
