FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WXIN/WTTV) — The Indiana State Police announced on Saturday that their Bloomington Post Investigations Unit arrested a murder suspect in North Carolina, following a two-year investigation.
According to ISP, detectives traveled to Fort Liberty, N.C. — northwest of Fayetteville — to arrest 24-year-old Crown Point native Kenron Laing.
Laing was located at Fort Liberty following a murder warrant, ISP wrote in a press release.
The investigation began on Nov. 2022, 2022. At that time, ISP said they were called to investigate the shooting death of then-39-year-old Gildardo Garcia Salina. This took place at Salina’s home in northern Owen County, in the area of North Cataract Road and US231.
Per ISP, Salina worked for a landscaping company and worked at a hotel that Laing often visited.
ISP said the two-year process involved gathering evidence, obtaining an arrest warrant and conducting interviews. Some detectives from the Bloomington Post’s Investigation Unit also traveled to Chicago for further interviews, according to ISP.
The case remains under investigation, and Laing is awaiting extradition to Indiana.
A mugshot for Laing has not yet been provided.
