Madison, Wis – The Wisconsin Pipe Trades Association was pleased to see the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announced today the issuance of the permits needed to move forward with the construction of the Line 5 relocation project in Bayfield, Ashland and Iron Counties. The project will employ 700 union workers, create millions in additional state and local tax revenues, and allow the gas, diesel and propane made possible by Line 5 to continue to be accessible by Wisconsin families.
“This is a huge win for our state’s workers and families who depend on the energy made possible by Line 5,” said Corey Gall, president of the Wisconsin Pipe Trades Association. “Wisconsin union pipe welders, who go through the most extensive training on earth, stand ready to get to work on this critical project that will ensure Line 5 continues to supply Wisconsin families with the energy they need.”
